Bass Fishing at its Best a day that will never be forgotten

A Fantasic well conditioned Double Figure Bass on Bait
Tap,Tap,Tap Mike Mc Cabe was knocking on my shed door at 5 in the morning,,are we off then in a deep lancashire accent,, hang on mate i said ,,Henry is will be here shortly no sooner said than the big fella wandered round the court yard at shady nook our bed and breakfast in SE Ireland Co Wexford the crabs look great 80 prime peeler just busting a gut to get out there ,,car packed all three of us off to the Bannow Estuary Bait Fishing,,on a sunburst Irish September day,,,
Had any Bass before Mic ??Henry asked ,,not a one thats why i have come to see Gee ,heard he can nail a few now and again ,I love to fish Barbel on the River Rother came mikes reply,,,,,,

well after the photo shoot with Henry, the fish started to come thick and fast heres mike with his first ever Bass of around 3lbs he was delighted with this super fish ,,i thought mine looked a little larger though!!
That great days bass fishing on Bait even got a front cover ,

Until this mother of a Bass Came along second cast second fish on prime Irish Peeler,,this must be some kind of record a 12lb fish for a second bass that Mic had ever caught heres a barbel angler nailing bass it is surreal,,Henry was clicking his camera like a man possesed ,,but eventually even Henrys camera was used up with more than enough Bass pictures,,this was fast becoming a day never to be forgotten,,,,,,,,

Mic and Myself with yet another wexford bass what a fantastic day we had 30 Bass to 12 lbs and 2 personal bests for our camera man

Even today Henrys site is headed by a fishy shot from that fantastic days Bass fishing down the Bannow Estuary
and we even made a front cover and from what i hear a little promotion for the Irish tourist board too,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,was it realy that good a days fishing

i think it was!!!??

Well done guys, some brilliant fishing there, especially the big one, not bad at all for a second bass ever.

Do you guys believe in the Lucky Gene ?? Some of us fish for years with only a hand full of good fish, then up crops a complete newbie and nails the big one in the first season, often the first session. I know a similar story to this. A guy on our site, Harry Cook from Stockton Nr Midddlesboerough had only ever had 1 small undersized schoolie before some of the lads took him bass plugging in the dark at the Mull of Galloway. Anyway to cut a long story short the lad nailed a 12 pounder (ounces short of the Scottish record) on the first night out.

Some of the lads got talking about the lucky Gene. The sort of person who catches the big fish, wins the bingo down the club more often than they should and has a wife looking like Cheryl Cole despite the fact they themselves have a complection like a welders bench.

Anyway, well done to all. Harrys bass story is here should you care to read it :

All the best - Glenn

glenn,,that was a fantastic story and Harry was a very lucky man or was he??,,you made me think with your tale there has been many guys and girls over the past years that have done it with the lucky gene sotories for the bar stool into the night

Hello all,
I feel i must put some points foreward about the comments made with regards the "lucky gene" I get your point, some of it,but not all and here is my view,a "newbe" to bass fishing maybe, but an angler for almost 40 years, and with that comes a lot of ups and downs as we all know, some of the "gruellers" ive gone through over the years make me wonder about my sanity whilst trying for a big autumn barbel from the ribble,or indeed a big river roach by design in winter, battling terrible weather, constant poor conditions and blank after blank, this is the time you really have to dig deep and keep at it and the rewards will eventually come, hopefully!! The big bass i caught was certainly a highlight in my angling career, but no more than the 13lb ribble barbel and dace of 1lb 2oz or all the memorable fish we as anglers catch in our angling lives, but you must experience the dissapointments which ive had my fare share, it just makes those special fish taste that much sweeter. And by the way, never done any good on the Bingo! must say though the missus is better looking than cheryl cole (ahhmm!) although face like a welders bench,,,you may have a point there!!! Tight lines all
